Bologna, Connected
The ‘Bologna, Connected’ series presents typical Italian values within everyday life through documentary style photography. It is an intimate collection of photos shot as I navigated the narrow windy streets of the city. The ‘Flaneur’ approach allows oneself to really take in what is happening in the surrounding world, it encourages that moment of equilibrium, captured eternally within the lens.
When amongst it, it is clear that family is still so central within Italian society, it is truly refreshing. There is an extended warranty of care, mothers so often accompanied by their sons and daughters, family is never far away it seems. I wanted to capture this essence of togetherness and unity within my work.
What comes with all of this, is impeccable Italian style, elegant but subtle. Ultimately this is what gives these shots that finishing touch. The colours, the fabrics, the architecture; it is all simply well done, quality over everything.
